session

What To Expect?

Each session is customized to fit your needs. I strive to capture the unique character and personality of each inividuaI photographed. For this reason, much of your session will involve personal interaction and not a lot of "posing." Instead of forcing your child to pose, we gently direct them and capture natural poses and fun moments. We love to incorporate the surroundings into our portraits, whether it be your home, nature or an urban location. You will find that I'm very patient and can work with all types of personalities.

What does the session fee cover?

Your session fee pays for time and talent, a 1-2 hour session, post production work on the images, and an in-studio ordering appointment. When you call to decide upon the date, location and type of your session, the session fee will be due. Upon receiving the session fee the date is reserved.

How long will it be before I see the images?

Your images will be available to view at your ordering appointment about a week after your session. This is where you get to see your images for the first time in a slideshow presentation and you will place your order. This time is so much fun! We get to find out your favorite images and help design the layout of the portraits for your home. Once your order is placed - a proofing gallery with be online for 10 days. There will be a $25 fee to repost your images for any additional viewing. Prints will be ready in 2-3 weeks after your ordering. Special order frames and books may take up to 6 weeks to receive.

Recommended Clothing

It is recommended that you dress you and/or your child in layers. Cardigans, hats, jackets, and sweaters are great to include. Choose colors that will compliment the skin tones and not create a washed out look. Bring several changes of clothing to your session. I always thinkg you should have one light colored oufit, dark color outfit and something with a bright color. Details are also great in clothing ruffles, buttons, ribbon, embroidery, lace, textured fabric but things with logos and patterns do not photograph as well.

Family sessions can be overwhelming when picking clothing. Try picking a few colors and sticking to them for the entire family. Dark jeans are always a good choice and you can pair it with coordinating colors. Sometimes matching too much can be over done so try to keep each person a little unique but staying within the color scheme. If you do warm tones keep in that family of colors and the same goes with cool tones

Items of Significance

Be sure to bring along any items of significance that you would like included in the photos. This could be a favorite blanket or stuffed animal, a family heirloom, a family pet, or anything else that is meaningful to your family.

Location

I am willing to travel anywhere 30 mile radius. Locations outside of 30 mile radius can be arranged for a fee. Whether it be a park, beach, historical site, or your own home, it's important to choose a location that fits your family. I have many great locations to suggest if you need help picking a location for your session.

A Note on Newborn Sessions

It is recommended that newborn sessions take place within the first 10 days of life. Babies grow so quickly and in order to capture that fresh, new look, please call and book your newborn session before your baby is born. When scheduling your session please indicate when your due date is. You will then contact me again once your baby is born and we will confirm a date and time.
